I’m in Vegas Baby

Posted on

I am in sunny Las Vegas for the Blog World new media expo conference.  The blog conference is only a few days but I decided to extend my stay for 6 days in an effort to escape the cold winter weather and take advantage of everything that the west coast has to offer.  I am definitely looking forward to having dinner with friends and spending some relaxing time by the pool.

I have been to Las Vegas many times but I have never been to Vegas with friends or on my own.  I went to Las Vegas with my parents and I went to Vegas with my dad on my 21st birthday…but that was 11 years ago. So I think that I’m due to check out all of the new sights and attractions that Las Vegas has to offer.

This time I am staying on Freemont Street which is in downtown Las Vegas that will be a new experience for me because my entire Vegas experience has always been confined to the strip.  If you have a favourite restaurant, shopping spot or a favourite something to do in Las Vegas send me a Tweet because I’d love to hear about it.  I have a mini to do list but there is always room for more.

My Las Vegas To Do List:

- Ride the roller coaster at the New York New York hotel

- Go to L.A. for a day and visit Universal Studios (it’s only a 4 hour bus ride from Las Vegas)

- Check out the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay

- Do a little shopping at the Miracle Mile shops (Barnes and Noble, Sephora and of course American Eagle)

- Gamble a little bit (You will find me at the craps table or playing black jack)

- Stay tuned for lots and lots of pics from my trip to Las Vegas.

Love Always.

Friday Faves: Boston, Condos and Fashion

Posted on

As you read this I am on my way to Boston for the very first time.  I have always wanted to visit Boston so I am super excited that I am finally getting a chance to go.  Boston is home to many successful people and it is also the background for many great movies.  New Kids on The Block and Ben Affleck are from Boston.  The movies “The Town” and “The Departed” are both set in Boston.

My list of things to do in Boston (because of course I have a list) includes visit the marketplace from the Presidential Election coverage, go shopping at Target and hopefully bump into Donnie Wahlberg (from New Kids on the Block and the hit TV show Blue Bloods) at some point over the next 3 days.

Enjoy these great posts from my fellow bloggers:

- Money Crashers – Hoe to Define Your Fashion Style and Save Money

- Savvy Sugar – Perfect Presents for Everyone on Your List!

- Frugal Portland – The condo that was too good to be true

- Vanessa’s Money – I hereby allow myself to be a spendaholic for the rest of the year!

- L.Bee and the Money Tree – Three things my Mother taught me about Personal Finance

Friday Faves: Bon Jovi, Tony Danza and Christmas

Posted on

Happy Friday Everyone. I am super excited to tell you that as of tomorrow at noon I will be the proud owner of Bon Jovi tickets for the show in Montreal on February 13, 2013. I love Bon Jovi but I’m not going to lie, I didn’t know who he was until I saw him on Sex & the City.

My thoughts go out to everyone who has experienced the wrath of Hurricane Sandy.  I hope that you are all ok. We are getting a lot of rain and a lot of strong winds up here in Montreal.  It’s cold and rainy outside, so why not stay inside and read some great blog posts?

Don’t forget to enter The Blogger Book Giveaway for your chance to win 3 great new books from my fellow bloggers. Speaking of great books, has anyone read White Girl Problems by Babe Walker? I am reading it right now and it’s totally a great book.  Full of funny dialogue and real life situations that everyone can relate to. The review will be out soon.

I will be inside this weekend staying warm and reading my book. What are you doing this weekend?

Here are my favourite posts this week from some of my lovely lady blogger friends:

- Add Vodka – How To Avoid Premature Wrinkles (P.S. I love the new website design)

- Blonde on a Budget – Cait’s Christmas Gift Card Giveaway (just in time for the holidays, I already entered)

- Serendipity’s Guide – Someday Dream – Owning A Small Business (motivation for everyone)

- The Bloggess – Hold me closer, Tony Danza (I am in the middle of writing a post about how jealous I am, it will be up on Thursday)

Love Always,

The Best Giveaways On The interwebs!Good Morning Loves. Today is very exciting for me because I have a big announcement that I want to share with you.  Remember when I said that changes are coming? Well I got a new employer to add to my list of freelance employers. I am very excited to say that I am the newest member of the Beautiful Giveaways team.

Beautiful Giveaways is a website that features weekly reviews and giveaways of some very popular and wonderful products.  They are currently hosting a giveaway with $240 worth of free cosmetics from Nars, Stilla, and Urban Decay.  Visit Beautiful Giveaways for your chance to win.

Each of the six lovely ladies (including myself) from Beautiful Giveaways works with companies to host reviews; we contact companies that we want to work with, we send them an email with ideas about how to promote their products and then we wait to hear which products they are going to send us to review.

What’s the good news for you?

Every company that sends us products to review also sends us products for a giveaway. That means that you have a chance to win free products up to five times each month. That’s definitely good news.

Now for some even more good news, as if it could get any better. I contacted Revlon about hosting a giveaway and they want to work with My Diary Entry and Beautiful Giveaways.  How exciting is that? Sign up for the My Diary Entry Newsletter to be the first to know about new giveaways and great product reviews.

If you are looking for a new nail polish, a new hairdryer, or new running gear you may just find it on My Diary Entry and Beautiful Giveaways, actually you may also be able to win it. Networking: Personal Gain or Business Strategy?

Posted on

In an effort to meet some new online friends, learn from other bloggers and build up some professional resources I recently joined the Yakezie Blog Network.  Yakezie is an online network of personal finance and lifestyle bloggers who share their personal and professional experiences with other members.  It was a no-brainer decision for me to join the Yakezie network because I am lucky enough to fit into both categories.  As a professional I write for several different personal finance blogs and in an effort to find personal happiness I also write here on my personal blog.

Why Networking is so Important

The main reason why I joined the Yakezie Blog Network was to spread the word about My Diary Entry.  An added benefit of joining the Yakezie Blog Network is that it enforces strict blogging guidelines for its members that include writing blog posts at least twice a week and promoting other members of the network.  Joining the Yakezie Blog Network forces me to blog daily and it also makes sure that I build relationships with other bloggers, both of these things will help me spread the word about My Diary Entry.

Networking helps spread the word about your business or your blog; it also forces us to meet other people who may be experiencing the same things that we are currently experiencing in our careers or in our personal lives. Different ways to network include attending conferences, offering to guest blog post on websites that have a similar audience, finding a niche and building personal relationships with people in the niche.

How do you meet new people and network?

Love Always,
