Friday Faves: How to deal with a bad day

Happy Friday Loves.  At 9 am I already spilt my coffee, I forget to put on deodorant and I was half an hour late for work. Today was just one of those days for me – one of those days when I should have just stayed in bed.  Nothing dramatic happened to me to today, it just seemed that nothing in my normal routine went as planned and I really hate that…especially on Fridays when I am usually at my happiest.

How do you make it through a bad day at the office?

1. Pretend you are on a reality TV show.  If your co-worker is bothering you, just pretend that you are going to vote them out next.

2. Take a little break.  Sometimes we get so into our zone that we can’t think anymore.  So get up, leave your desk, walk around and grab a bite to eat or a drink. It gives you a change of environment for 15 minutes and you can come back to your desk refreshed and ready to work.  Remember that cold drinks keep you awake while hot beverages make you all warm and cozy.

3. Find something you like to do and do it all day.  The day will go by a lot faster if you are doing something you love. So put off those tasks that you dislike and start doing something you love – even if it’s on your to do list for Monday…it’s ok to get a head start.

4. Picture yourself as the boss.  A little daydreaming never hurt nobody.  So picture yourself in that corner office.  Thinking about a promotion or a raise always gives me motivation to keep working on those days when I just want to be in bed.  PS – I always want to be in bed because I love napping.

5. Plan your next vacation.  Having something to look forward to, especially a vacation, always makes me smile and feel better.  Next weekend I am going to Vermont for the day (it’s only an hour from Montreal), at the end of the month I will be in Toronto and in October I am going to NYC for my birthday week…all vacations to look forward to.

Friday Faves: I am actually loving the rain!

Good morning Loves and happy Friday. To say that the summer weather has not yet kicked in up here in the Northeast would be an understatement. It’s been cold and rainy for a while and I for one am really over it. As you know I am not a huge fan of the elements, usually snow and rain put me in a really bad mood…but not anymore.

Today as I walked to work I heard three women taking about how they were not going to let the gloomy weather cast a shadow on their vacation. Even though it was cold and rainy these women were determined to have a good time and I appreciated their positive attitude. At the next red light as we were waiting to cross the street I turned around and told the three women that they have really great attitudes towards the rain. At that exact moment I decided to change my attitude towards the rain too.

I decided that I don’t want to waste my summer sitting inside watching reruns of Beverly Hills 90210 so I bought new rain boots, a cute trench coat from H&M and a really cute flowered umbrella – then I ventured outside to embrace the rain. The more I think about it there are actually a lot of reasons why we should love the rain.

6 reasons why I stopped hating on the rain:

- I love walking through puddles with my rain boots while everyone else is trying to avoid them

- The rain is a good reason to stay inside and catch up on emails and household chores

- For some reason it’s easier to run on the treadmill than it is outside on the street

- I feel like Mary Poppins with my new umbrella

- Sleeping in seems a lot easier when the sun isn’t shining in through the blinds

- The hot weather cools off in the rain and I really love the fresh smell of rain

Friday Faves: The best thing that happend to me this week

Today’s post is short and sweet; it’s a little bit about running and a lot about the best thing that happened to me all week.

Has something ever happened to you that didn’t directly involve you but it had such an impact on you that you will be remembering it and talking about for days to come?

Tuesday morning as I was on my way up to the 15th floor of my office building to start my day in corporate communications a woman entered the elevator just as the doors were closing.  Although I didn’t recognize her face (most likely because I’m new at my job and still getting to know everyone) I realized that she was also on her way up to the 15th floor.

What is the one song that always makes you want to sing along?

For me it’s anything by Mariah Carey.  As the elevator doors closed and we started ascending up to our respective offices the woman broke out into song, yep a full blown Broadway show. I am laughing so hard right now as I remember how it happened as if it just happened this morning.

I know that I myself have got carried away when a great song comes onto my iPod; sometimes I even want to sing or dance, but if I am in public I stop myself before my Broadway appearance gets out of hand.  However, the woman was NOT listening to an iPod, I repeat, she did not have an iPod.

What do you do when you can’t believe your eyes and ears?

I can’t even tell you what song the woman was singing.  I was in such shock about what was happening – and so early in the morning no less – that I couldn’t even focus.  This was the best thing that happened to me all week and every time I think about the woman singing in the elevator it brings a smile to my face.  Has anything like this every happened to you?

Friday Faves: Smooth skin, long lashes and happy feet

Happy Friday Lovlies!  I recently discovered the world of subscription boxes and I totally fell in love with the idea of getting a box full of surprises in the mail every month.  I don’t know about you, but I love getting mail, so getting mail full of little surprises is that much better.

Just in case you are a subscription box newbie (like I was) let me explain how it works…

I received this lightly scented body cream from C. Friday Faves: 3 Killer Thigh Workouts

It’s Friday people!  Today I am writing to you with a lot of good news and I can’t wait to share so let’s get right into it.

1. I am happy to say that today marks the end of another great week at my new job, so that’s always good news.

2. I received my first book review from a fellow blogger and here is what As Green from Always the Planner has to say:

3. If you follow me on Twitter then you know that I have been looking for a killer thigh workout and after some love from my Tweeps I found 3 great thigh workouts.  Can you say HELLO Short Shorts!  Check them out and let me know which one is your fave.

- Hot Legs Sexy Butt Workout from BodyRock.tv – this is a killer workout.  It’s not fun because it’s hard work but you will feel great when you finish.  Actually that’s not true you will be sore but your thighs will thank you later.  Set 10 minutes aside, workout your thighs and then take a long warm bubble bath. PS – the motivation to get through this tough workout is to have a killer body like the girl in the video. Do this workout and you will look like that ——————————->>>>

- My Thighs are Dying! from Blogilates – this was the first workout that I tried and I liked it.  Cassy from Blogilates is fun and full of energy; she incorporates music with her at home workouts so that you have fun while working out.  This is not my all time favourite thigh workout but it’s not a bad way to spend 15 minutes.

- Gangnam Style Squat Challenge from Blogilates – I originally tried this workout because the music is fun and anything with a little bit of dancing can’t be so bad. I love this intense quick workout because I can always find 5 minutes in my day to blast away my thighs – especially while I dance to Gangnam Style.
