One of my personal goals this year is to lose 25 pounds in 6 months.  Actually the weight isn’t as important as feeling good.  If I lost enough weight to be a little bit leaner, a tiny bit smaller and feel a little bit better about myself I would be happy.

A Second Chance at a Healthy Life

Dear Diary,

After 32 years of being unhappy with my appearance and eating whatever food I wanted to in an effort to try and feel the void of personal happiness I have finally decided to make the conscious decision to start living a healthy life.

Eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle are two very different things with one common goal – to be a happier person. Eating healthy can help you lose weight and prevent several severe medical conditions. Eating healthy can help you be happy on both the outside as well as on the inside. Living a healthy lifestyle is purely beneficial to your medical health. Exercising on a regular basis helps prevent several medical conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol and unhealthy high blood pressure.

The only way that people can lose weight is to burn off more calories in a day then they take in.  There are two ways to do this, people can eat less food and intake fewer calories or they can eat what they want and exercise to burn off the excess calories. I have decided to do both. I have been living an unhealthy lifestyle for so long that I don’t know the first thing about making positive changes in my life to be healthier and happier so I need a little bit of help.

3 Healthy Living Tools to Help Me Lose Weight

Jenny Craig.  I am learning about setting personal goals and controlling my food portions with Jenny Craig.  It is truly amazing how much food we eat compared to how much food we should be eating. I am trying to change my personal mentality to think of food as a means to stay healthy and give me energy throughout the day as oppose to something to drown my sorrows and celebrate my victories. I am learning that people don’t have to starve themselves to be on a diet and this is good news for me because I love eating.

Lose It. I am learning about suitable daily calorie intakes for my personal goal weight with LoseIt.com. I used to eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted because I thought that food made me happy, but this is not true. I now live on a 1100 calorie diet per day and believe me when you only have a limited number of calories to eat you will make sure you cherish them. I am cutting out carbs and sugar from my diet.  I am also trying to drink less caffeine and drink a lot more water throughout the day. I am not going to lie, tracking every single piece of food that you eat throughout the day is a huge pain in the a$$, but no one said that losing weight would be easy.

Blogilates.  I am learning that exercise can be both fun and beneficial with Blogilates. I want to work out with Blogilates because their workout clothes are cute and their workout routines are inspiring…and you can do them all in the comfort of your own home.  I want to be happy with my physical appearance and I don’t want to worry about my health as I get older. This is why exercising is beneficial for both my outsides as well as my insides.

Save Yourself. Skip the Gym: 90 Days of Yoga

This year is all about making positive changes as I work towards loving life and learning to love myself. One of my goals for 2012 was to find a career that I honestly and truly love, and I discovered that career is writing.  I want to be an author, but until my fiction and motivational books are published I would like to work for a literary agency, a public relations firm, or even a financial institution in corporate communications.  I want to wake up every morning and go to bed every night feeling good about myself.

In order to achieve my career goal of becoming a professional writer and in order to achieve my personal goal of becoming an author I decided to go back to school. I am currently enrolled in the journalism program at Concordia University here in Montreal. My class this semester is called “Writing for the Web” and our assignment is to create a blog and start writing on a regular basis. Since I already have a blog, I decided to blog about one specific topic on My Diary Entry throughout the school semester.

In addition to achieving my career goal of becoming an author I also have a personal goal to be healthy, get fit, and lose weight; but I absolutely hate going to the gym.  My ideal weight is 120lbs for my 5 foot frame and therefore I would like to lose 20 to 25 lbs.  It is very hard to lose weight if you don’t exercise because you hate the gym, so I decided to do a little investigative journalism and find effective at home exercise routines that will help me get fit.

From October 1 to December 31 I am going to do a yoga workout routine in my apartment every other day.  I can’t commit to exercising every single day because between working my 9 to 5 at the bank, going back to school, and all of my freelance gigs I just don’t have the time. Finding the right balance between work and life is a dilemma that a lot of people have when they are trying to achieve career goals and trying to achieve personal happiness at the same time.

One of the main reasons why I don’t exercise on a regular basis is because I get bored easily and a regular gym routine is boring.  The key to achieving success and continuing to exercise on a regular basis is to have a variety in my yoga routines. I already have the Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown DVD and I purchased 3 other Yoga DVDs from eBay, including Shape Lean & Strong Yoga, Rodney Yee Power Yoga, and The Biggest Loser Yoga for Weight Loss with Bob Harper.

I am looking forward to exercising on a regular basis because endorphins from exercising make people happy. I am also excited that I will actually be taking a break from my freelance work every other night to do some yoga, instead of just working from 6pm to 11 pm every day.
